Garage Sale Grand Total
Our September garage sale raised a grand total of $4,378.51! We appreciate all of your fantastic donations and are grateful for everyone who came to purchase art, toys, kitchen gadgets, and everything in between!

Garage Sale 2025!

Hello to all of our wonderful supporters.
We wanted to let you know that our next sponsorship has begun. A lovely young couple from Venezuela arrived on June 4th. We had about 10 days notice before their arrival and in that time, thanks to some hard work and extremely generous people, we were able to find and furnish an apartment. They are now settling into their new home.
We will be running several fundraisers in the next year as we need to raise at least $14,000, so please stay tuned for upcoming events! In the meantime, we can (and would greatly appreciate!) donations in two ways.
- Donate through the Inter-Cultural Association (ICA)
Because this is a sponsorship with the ICA you can donate to our sponsorship through them and receive a charitable donation. Go to this web page: DONATE TO THE GHERKINS SPONSORSHIP scroll down the “Constituent Group” menu and pick CG 225-25 – it’s the last one on the list.
2. E-Transfer
If you want to donate directly to the Gherkins, which gives us the ability to help with the small extras that can really help them settle more easily, you can send e-transfers to donate@gherkins.ca. We can’t offer a charitable receipt for donations made this way as we don’t have that ability yet.

Back by popular demand, our next fundraising event is a Music Bingo night at the Fernwood Inn on Wednesday, April 16th – if you’ve been to one you know how incredibly fun they are, if not you owe it to yourself to come and have a fantastic time! You get to have an evening full of fun, maybe win a prize AND help do some good in the world, all for one ticket to Music Bingo!
Prizes: A wonderful array of choices that will include Gift Certificates to Levantine (the wonderful restaurant opened by the first family we sponsored in 2016), some gorgeous hand made pottery, spa gift certificates, and much much more!
Winners get to choose their prize.
